"“Afro-Electro-Pop with roots in Congolese tradition, jazz, and Afrofuturism—Kizaba’s sound is truly singular.” ” ” — Afropop Worldwide
Lionel KIZABA – singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and Radio-Canada Révélation 2024–2025 – is a trailblazer of Afro-Congolese electro music. Based in Montréal, Kizaba is redefining Afro Electro with a bold blend of Congolese rhythms, electronic beats, and ancestral vocals. His sound transcends language and borders, creating a vibrant, Afrofuturistic universe that connects deeply with global audiences.
His new album Future Village, released in April 2025, marks a powerful new chapter in his artistic evolution — an immersive, genre-bending work that fuses cutting-edge production with ancestral spirit. With this release, Kizaba continues to expand his sonic territory, pushing Afro Electro into new, future-facing dimensions.
Singing in French, English, Kikongo, and Lingala, Kizaba’s work defies convention and builds bridges across cultures. A future-forward artist already shining on the world’s biggest stages, his previous album Kizavibe earned multiple nominations at the 2024 JUNO Awards, including World Music Album of the Year. He has also been recognized with major accolades, including International Artist or Musical Group of the Year and World Music Artist of the Year at the Dynastie Awards, as well as honors from GAMIQ and the ALBUM/EP WORLD category.
Kizaba launched his U.S. debut tour in 2022 with a landmark performance on the main stage of the legendary New Orleans Jazz Festival, sharing the lineup with icons such as Lionel Richie, Ceelo Green, Charlie Wilson, and Foo Fighters. His electrifying live show has since lit up international stages at top festivals and industry events including Festival International de Louisiane, Africa Oyé (UK), MAPAS (Spain), Circulart (Colombia), Womad Chile, Mundial Montréal, M for Montréal, Seoul Music Week (South Korea), Global Toronto, and tours across China and Taiwan.
